BIFMA International

Stateline is proud to announce that we are now an active member of BIFMA International. BIFMA is the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer's Association.

It is the organisation entrusted by ANSI (The American National Standards Institute) to develop a list of criteria and testing procedures to evaluate various aspects of specific furniture pieces. BIFMA is recognised throughout the world as a leader in the field of standards testing.

A lot of manufacturers and retailers claim their office chairs are the best and top of the line when it comes to ergonomic office furniture. But how can everyone's product be at the top of the mountain? More importantly, how can you know if a chair really is a good piece of ergonomic furniture?
That is where BIFMA standards come into the picture.
BIFMA has come up with criteria and specific testing procedures to determine if a piece of furniture really is ergonomically sound.

The Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer's Association (BIFMA) sets industry standards for commercial-grade furniture. The standards are intended to provide manufacturers and users with a common basis for evaluating safety, durability, and the structural adequacy of the specific furniture. The standards determine specific tests, laboratory equipment to be used, formulas to determine weight or height to use in each test, the conditions of testing, and the acceptance levels to be used in evaluating these products.
